SumOfUs petition to would-be Prime Ministers asking for the EU environmental protections to survive Brexit

SumOfUs are organising a petition asking the various would-be Prime Ministers not to scrap the EU environmental legislation in the course of the Brexit negotiations. More than 70 per cent of environmental safeguarding legislation comes from the EU. There’s a very real danger that David Cameron’s successor could take us back to the days of being ‘the dirty man of Europe’ by scrapping that legislation, To take just one example, the Farming Minister George Eustice has called the wildlife protection laws “spirit crushing” and wants to repeal them.
