AVAAZ Petition to David Cameron connecting the floods to climate change

At last the climate issue is being connected to the current UK floods. AVAAZ have produced the petition linked below asking David Cameron to take effective long-term action on both floods and a changing climate:

The BBC has reported on recent findings presented to the American Association for the Advancement of Science which connects current extreme weather in the northern hemisphere to the meandering jet stream and the warmer arctic (the jet stream’s path seems to depend on the temperature differential between the arctic and warmer air further south): http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-26023166

Please sign the AVAAZ petition – this issue needs thousands of people behind it to counteract the climate-change deniers’ influence over the government and the Tory party!

Obviously the UK cannot stop climate change by itself as it is only currently responsible for under 2% of emissions, but surely people in other parts of the world will not enjoy their own variety of extreme weather events and will press their governments to take effective action to reduce emissions.
